Alec Burks has been called the most talented Colorado men's basketball player since Chauncey Billups. And like Billups, Burks will give up his final two years of eligibility to declare for the NBA draft.

Burks, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, said today he will leave the school to turn pro.

"I was really excited about coming back (to CU) until yesterday," Burks said. "I wasn't ready to give up the college experience. But I talked to a lot of people.

"I thought about (the possibility of an NBA owners) lockout," Burks said. "But it's a risk-reward. The NBA has been a dream of mine."

Doron Lamb to Return to Kentucky

University of Kentucky guard Doron Lamb will return for his sophomore season and will not submit his name for NBA draft evaluation, the school announced Tuesday.

UK coach John Calipari said last week that he did not expect Lamb to enter the draft, but said it would be "fine" if he opted to do so.

"Last season was an unbelievable run for me and my teammates, winning the SEC Tournament and advancing to the Final Four," Lamb said in a release. "Losing the last game against UConn was tough, and I don't want to end my college career with that feeling.

According to Stevens, Mack will test the draft process between April 24 and May 8 to see where he would fall in the first round.

Trey Thompkins has played his final basketball game for Georgia, and Travis Leslie might have done so, too.

Thompkins will forgo his senior season to enter the NBA draft, and he plans to make the decision irreversible by hiring an agent.

Leslie also will apply for the draft but will not yet hire an agent, thus preserving the option of withdrawing from the draft by the NCAA’s May 8 deadline to return for his senior season at UGA.

Though Missouri hired Frank Haith away from Miami (Fla.) on Sunday, Tigers players Laurence Bowers and Kim English will enter the NBA draft and test their pro stock, the school announced Monday.

Neither of the players will hire an agent, leaving open the possibility that they can return to Missouri by the May 8 deadline.

"I think for anyone who plays college basketball, having a chance to play in the NBA is a dream," Laurence Bowers said in a statement released by the school. Player Biography: Jorge Gutierrez is an interesting prospect who could develop into a draftable prospect by the end of his senior season. Gutierrez has improved as player since sophomore year, and he continues to increase his production as his junior season goes on, as evidenced by the increase in his scoring average to 20.75 over his last eight games. At this point, he is more of a combo guard, but he does a nice job creating for his teammates. Gutierrez also can get into the paint off the dribble, where he uses shot fakes to create space to get off his shot. Because he is not overly athletic by NBA standards, that part of his game may not translate as well though. Defensively, Gutierrez is very good, showing good effort and intelligence as a defender.

Player Biography: Creighton has done a nice job developing NBA talent, most recently Kyle Korver and Anthony Tolliver. Doug McDermott has a chance to be the Jays' next pro prospect . Overshadowed by Harrison Barnes at Ames High, McDermott elected to play for his dad, Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. He has produced as a freshman, leading the team in scoring (14.4PPG) and rebounding (7.7RPG). McDermott has played so well that when Greg Echenique became eligible after transferring, Missouri Valley Preseason Player of the Year Kenny Lawson was benched instead of the freshman. While McDermott is clearly a very good college player, he will need to continue to develop in order to reach the NBA. He is more of a power forward at this point, but due to his size, he will need to continue to transition into a small forward. With such a great start, it should be fun watching McDermott develop over the next few seasons.

Player Biography: Dwight Hardy is a very good collegiate player, leading St. John's to some big wins, but I do not think his game will translate to the NBA. Due to his size, Hardy needs to improve his point guard skills, With his athleticism and size, Hardy is able to score effectively by attacking the basket, but he would likely struggle against bigger, more athletic defenders in the NBA. He is a good but not great shooter. Defensively, Hardy does a nice job against smaller guards, but if he is forced to play off the ball in the NBA, he would likely be matched up against taller shooting guards, with whom he would struggle. At this point, I think Hardy has a better future overseas.
